Local Policing Update

I would like to provide a brief update on recent policing activity within the local area.

Despite the increased demand associated with anti-social behaviour and public disorder at some of the district's main beaches, I have continued to carry out proactive patrols within our community and have dealt with the following matters:

Northdown Car Park Anti-Social Behaviour

Reports have been received regarding vehicles gathering in Northdown Car Park during unsociable hours, causing noise nuisance and using their vehicles in an anti-social manner. I am currently liaising with the local authority to explore the possibility of introducing target-hardening measures, such as access gates or bollards, to help prevent future issues.

Coastal Anti-Social Behaviour

I have responded to several incidents of anti-social behaviour along the coastline between Botany Bay and Foreness Point. These incidents have included unauthorised encampments and unlicensed music events. All matters were addressed using the powers available under the Coastal Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), resulting in the issues being resolved promptly.

Road Traffic Collision Investigation

I am currently investigating a road traffic collision in which the suspect driver failed to stop at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing, and I am utilising Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology and other investigative opportunities to identify the vehicle involved.

Speed Enforcement Activity

Speed checks have continued to be conducted at various locations across the area. Encouragingly, I have observed a slight reduction in the number of vehicles travelling above the speed limit. I would be interested to hear whether residents have noticed a similar improvement, or if there are any additional locations where speeding remains a concern.
